Vindrossel (Redwing, Turdus iliacus)

Vindrossel. Formentlig har den sit navn fra den Vinrøde flanke og den vinrøde vingeunderside.
Er en drosselfugl i slægt med solsorten, men ganske ulig denne. Udseende er en drossel af mindre størrelse end en solsort, har en meget lys strågul øjenbrynstribe, samt mørk kind, der indrammes af blandt andet dens øjenbrynstribe. Den brune overside står i kontrast til undersidens lyse grundfarve med de mørke længdestriber (egentlig aflange pletter der næsten flyder sammen). Langs fuglens kropsside (flanken) ses den vinrøde farve.
Næbbet er ganske spidst og tofarvet (mørkt yderst og gulligt mod basis på undernæbbet).
Er en bær og anden frugt spiser, men tager også en del insekter i form af larver og har derfor stor nytte i vores haver.
